Registered nurses (RNs) provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members.

Job Outlook

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, https://www.bls.gov/ooh/healthcare/registered-nurses.htm  the registered nursing field is expected to grow 15 percent from 2016 to 2026 much faster than average for all occupations. Growth will occur for a number of reasons, including an increased emphasis on preventive care; growing rates of chronic conditions, such as diabetes and obesity; and demand for healthcare services from the baby-boom population as they live longer and more active lives.

Registered nurses work in hospitals, home healthcare services, nursing homes, physician offices, outpatient clinics and schools or serve in the military.

The median annual wage for registers nurses 2018 was $ 71,730; $34.48 per hour.
