Transfer Students

Selection for each academic award or scholarship will be based on specific criteria as outlined within the links below. All applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA) and be accepted into Baptist University by March 1st in order to be considered for the upcoming academic year beginning with the fall trimester. The Baptist Health Sciences University’ School Code to be used on the Federal Application is 034403.

Scholarships

Phi Theta Kappa - Charles R. Baker Scholarship

Established by Mr. Charles R. Baker. Transfer students are given first priority for these awards. Eligibility requirements include:

  • Must be a member of Phi Theta Kappa
  • Cumulative GPA on all college work attempted of 3.25
  • Meet all regular admissions requirements
  • College transfer students have first priority
  • Available to students in all majors

Annual dollar value: $2,000 ($1,000 fall and spring)


Each recipient will be required to maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 at Baptist University. This is a one-year award.
 

Charles R. Baker Scholarship

Established by Mr. Charles R. Baker. Transfer students are given first priority for these awards.
Eligibility requirements include:

  • Cumulative GPA on all college work attempted of 3.25
  • Meet all regular admissions requirements
  • College transfer students have first priority
  • Available to students in all majors

Annual dollar value: $2,000 ($1,000 fall and spring)

Each recipient will be required to maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 at Baptist University. This is a one-year award.

IV Murphree Memorial Nursing Scholarship

The IV Murphree scholarship was established by a bequest from Miss IV Murphree, a graduate of Baptist School of Nursing.
Eligibility requirements include:

  • Cumulative GPA on all college work attempted of 3.25
  • Meet all regular admissions requirements
  • College transfer students have first priority
  • Available to nursing major
  • Must demonstrate financial need

Annual dollar value: $1,500 ($750 disbursed fall and spring)

Recipient will be required to maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 at Baptist University. This is a one-year award.

Robert F. Scates Scholarship

The Robert F. Scates scholarship was established by a bequest from Mr. Robert F. Scates, Sr., who worked in the health care field for 50 years and was a former vice-president of Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Eligibility requirements include:

  • Cumulative GPA on all college work attempted of 3.00
  • Meet all regular admissions requirements
  • College transfer students have first priority
  • Available to students in all majors

Annual dollar value: $1,000 ($500 disbursed fall and spring)

Recipient will be required to maintain a cumulative grade point average of a 3.0 at Baptist University. This is a one-year award.

Mary C. Bronstein Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Memphis internist and cardiologist, Dr. Maury W. Bronstein, in honor of his wife, Mary Bronstein.
Eligibility requirements include:

  • High school GPA of 3.25
  • Meet all regular admissions requirements
  • Any major

Annual dollar value: $1,000 ($500 fall and spring)

Each recipient will be required to maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 at Baptist University. This is a one-year award.

Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation Grant

The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation is a charitable private foundation dedicated to the support of deserving female students. Multiple awards are granted annually to students who meet criteria established by the foundation.

  • No essay is required.

Tennessee Education Scholarships (TELS)

The Tennessee Educational Lottery Scholarship Program (TELS) includes of several awards. Four of these may be used to defray educational expenses at Baptist Health Sciences University . Students at Baptist University may be eligible for the Hope Scholarship and either the Aspire Award or the General Assembly Merit Scholarship or the HOPE Access Grant.

Tennessee Promise

Tennessee Promise is only available to Baptist University students who are admitted into an associate degree program.  Additionally, TN Promise will only pay the equivalent rate of a community college – it will not cover Baptist University tuition.  Please visit TN.gov/collegepays for more information.
