ACAG Clinical II

This is a Level 3 course in the DNP program and the second of two clinical courses for the preparation of the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner. This course provides the nurse practitioner student the opportunity to develop and apply independent knowledge and skills in a variety of acute critical care subspecialties. The focus of this clinical course is on the development and refinement of clinical appraisal and diagnostic skills utilized to obtain relevant comprehensive histories and physicals, diagnosis and treatment plans needed by the advance practice nurse to provide care to critically ill adult and older-adult patients and families in collaboration with the inter-professional health care team. Emphasis will be on the role of the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner as a collaborative member of the inter-professional health care team. Advanced skills, including the use of high-tech decision aids that promote physiologic stability are examined. Pre-requisite –NSG 807, NSG 819, NSG 839, NSG 823, NSG 832
