Physician Core Competencies II

Continued development of the Professionalism, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, and Systems-Based Practice Competencies. This semester will focus on medical ethics and end-of-life, patient and provider safety, and antibiotic and vaccination stewardship. Learners will be introduced to the legal components of medicine and patient safety, including instruction regarding patient/physician boundaries. The mind-body connection will be explored, and learners will be introduced to complementary and alternative medicine. Learners will hear from patient panels about living with chronic disease and interacting with health care. There will be a service-learning project.
