Physician Core Competencies III
Continued development of the Professionalism, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, and Systems-Based Practice Competencies. Learners will be introduced to the health consequences of smoking and the importance of smoking prevention and cessation, including a service-learning project focused on smoking prevention in children. Learners will develop skills for challenging patient encounters. Learners will explore the issues of disruptive and impaired physicians and learn about addiction and tolerance. Learners will be introduced to Culinary Medicine. Learners will hear from patient panels about living with chronic disease and interacting with health care.
