BUCOM Students Make Their Mark at AACOM Advocacy Day 2025

A group of nine BUCOM medical students wearing white coats stand together on a staircase inside a bright, modern building. The students are smiling and posed in two rows, representing the BUCOM Student Government Association.

In just its second year, the Baptist Health Sciences University College of Osteopathic Medicine (BUCOM) is already making history. With only two classes of students, BUCOM has shown remarkable enthusiasm and leadership on the national stage—winning the AACOM Advocacy Day 2025 COM Engagement Competition.

BUCOM had the highest student participation in this year’s Advocacy Day, earning the top spot among colleges of osteopathic medicine nationwide. In recognition of their outstanding engagement, BUCOM’s Student Government Association (SGA) was awarded a $1,000 prize from the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM).

AACOM Advocacy Day unites osteopathic medical students from across the country to champion critical health policy issues that impact patients, physicians, and the future of health care. BUCOM’s participation demonstrates not only the passion of its students but also the university’s growing commitment to leadership and advocacy within the osteopathic community.

We are incredibly proud of our students for representing BUCOM with excellence and dedication. Their advocacy today reflects the strong foundation being built at BUCOM and the bright future ahead for osteopathic medicine.
