Baptist Health Sciences University (BHSU) is pleased to welcome Andrea Malkin, J.D., as Vice President of Strategy and Integrated Planning, a newly established executive leadership role created to support the University’s continued growth and long-term vision.

As a member of the University’s senior leadership team, Malkin provides leadership for strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, and integrated planning efforts across the University. She also oversees the operations of the Institutional Effectiveness and Planning and Marketing departments, strengthening cross-functional collaboration and ensuring alignment between institutional priorities, operational policies, and long-term strategy.

Malkin brings 20 extensive years of experience in higher education leadership, strategic planning, and organizational operations.

Since joining BHSU in November, Malkin has already begun working closely with leadership to advance integrated planning efforts and support institutional priorities.

“I’m honored to be part of BHSU,” said Malkin. “I’ve enjoyed collaborating with faculty and staff as we align strategy, planning, and mission in support of the University’s long-term goals.”

Strategic Leadership in Academic Medicine and Higher Education

Most recently, Malkin served as Chief of Staff and Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine, where she supported executive leadership and more than 1,800 employees across four campuses. In that role, she led a comprehensive five-year strategic planning process, guided cross-functional initiatives related to accreditation and policy development, and supported alumni engagement and external partnerships.

As an educator, Malkin has taught physicians, residents, fellows, and students in healthcare law, business law, and professional development—bringing a practical, interdisciplinary perspective to academic leadership.

Supporting BHSU’s Mission and Future Growth

In her role, Malkin will focus on aligning institutional priorities, strengthening policies and procedures, and fostering collaboration across the University. She will also serve as a key advocate for BHSU by strengthening external partnerships, alumni engagement, and community connections that advance the University’s mission and strategic objectives.
