Measurement Tool

• The Team Fitness Test is used to measure effective communication across the professions of a healthcare team and effective interprofessional team dynamics and values as members of a healthcare team.
• The Team Fitness Test is a direct assessment tool used in a college success course, general education courses, and program-level courses.
• The measurement tool is used in the college success course to assess attitudes and team functioning. The module consists of in-class team based activities, which introduce foundational team dynamics and communication skills.

• The measurement tool is used in program-level courses to assess attitudes and team functioning amongst healthcare team members.
• The measurement tool is  used to assess each student at multiple points in the course. Each course learning activity will include a minimum of two activities for assessment, with the first activity serving as the benchmark from which subsequent activity assessments are compared. Gains in student attitudes will be evaluated.

Data Analysis

• Data collection began in fall 2015. The chart indicates 91% (32 of 35) of course sections indicated a perception that the teamwork interaction applied to their team.
