On July 24, Baptist Health Sciences University (BHSU) hosted a Lunch and Learn at Baptist Memorial Hospital–North Mississippi, offering Baptist employees and alumni the opportunity to connect with BHSU leadership and learn more about the university’s programs, benefits, and future plans.

Brian Welton, CEO of Baptist North Mississippi, welcomed the group and introduced Dr. Hampton Hopkins, President of BHSU, to his team. Dr. Hopkins was joined by key university leaders, including Allison Flynn, Director of Admissions, and Ann-Salina Tucker, Director of Admissions and Student Affairs for the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM), as well as several academic program chairs.

The session featured exciting updates on clinical education and academic program developments. Program chairs shared insights into rotation opportunities, curriculum enhancements, and how their areas contribute to building the future of health care.

Following the introductions, the leadership team led a Q&A session, where attendees inquired about topics such as tuition discounts, campus life, the COM, and admissions processes. Leaders emphasized the university's commitment to supporting the professional growth of Baptist team members and their families.

The event welcomed 29 attendees, including three proud BHSU alumni:

  • Stephanie Hobson, Nuclear Medicine, Class of 2017
  • Lakeysta Ford, Nuclear Medicine, Class of 2012
  • April Johnson, Medical Laboratory Science, Class of 2018

Following the lunch, Welton, personally led a tour of the hospital for BHSU faculty and staff, showcasing the hospital’s facilities and commitment to patient-centered care. The tour provided insight for our current faculty to better prepare our future healers.

We are grateful to our Baptist family in Oxford for their warm hospitality and enthusiasm. Events like these reaffirm our shared mission to educate and empower the next generation of compassionate, skilled health care professionals.
