Blue Healers Inspire the Next Generation at JA Inspire

One woman wears a BHSU Healthcare t-shirt, and the other wears a shirt with a stylized dog graphic. Behind them, a large inflatable colon exhibit is partially visible.

From May 6–8, our Blue Healers of Baptist Health Sciences University (BHSU) joined forces with Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation (BMHCC) to participate in the 4th annual JA Inspire event held at the Agricenter International. This experience, organized by Junior Achievement (JA), brought together industry leaders and educators to guide over 1,000 8th graders on exciting pathways into the workforce.

JA Inspire offers a hands-on, interactive platform that introduces middle and high school students to a wide variety of careers through JA Journeys—a unique framework that encourages students to match their skills and interests with real-world opportunities. The curriculum covers everything from defining what a career is to assessing personal strengths, researching high-growth industries, and connecting with professionals from various fields.

BHSU proudly participated in the Injury to Rehab journey, a focused track designed to showcase careers in health care. Through its HealthCORE program, BHSU provided an engaging and educational experience that gave students a closer look at the medical field. Attendees explored the science behind epidemics, examined cells under microscopes, and interacted with faculty, staff, and alumni who shared insights into different medical careers.

Volunteers from across the BHSU campus were on hand to answer questions and offer guidance on how students can begin their paths toward rewarding careers in health care.

The goal: to inspire and equip the next generation of health care leaders—our future Blue Healers.

“JA Inspire is a great way to engage with future Blue Healers and our future health care leaders. It is always an honor to get our campus community plugged in with Junior Achievement and the great work they are doing,” said Zac Cox, Relationship Marketing Coordinator at BHSU.
