BUCOM Faculty Member Leads at National Osteopathic Education Meeting
Baptist University College of Osteopathic Medicine (BUCOM) is proud to recognize Regina K. Fleming, DO, Assistant Dean of Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Associate Professor, for her leadership at the recent Educational Council on Osteopathic Principles (ECOP)/Osteopathic Principles and Practice (OPP) meeting held in Des Moines.
Dr. Fleming, who serves as Chair of ECOP and Chair of the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (AOBNMM), led the meeting where representatives from the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), AOBNMM, Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA), National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME), and the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) presented updates.
Key topics discussed under Dr. Fleming’s leadership included:
- Updating the Technical Standards that guide all U.S. osteopathic schools.
- Reviewing and refining the council’s bylaws.
- Exploring strategies to increase the number of OMM faculty nationwide.
In addition to chairing the meeting, Dr. Fleming also presented to students on behalf of the AOBNMM, reinforcing BUCOM’s mission to advance osteopathic education and prepare the next generation of physicians.
