Baptist Health Sciences University College of Osteopathic Medicine joined with the Memphis Medical District Collaborative (MMDC) to kick off the first day of classes with a Crosswalk Zebras Pedestrian Awareness event on Monday, Aug. 4 at the intersections of Union Avenue and South Pauline Street, and Monroe and South Pauline Street in Memphis.

BHSU mascot Hartley the Blue Healer joined volunteers dressed in zebra costumes to walk or dance students and other pedestrians across the street, drawing attention to crosswalks, increasing driver awareness and enhancing safety at  high-traffic intersections.

“This is our second time teaming up with MMDC for this initiative, and it continues to be a meaningful way to connect safety, community engagement and student life,” said Callie Summers, assistant director of student affairs. “This event not only promoted safety for our students and local pedestrians but also brought joy and visibility to the neighborhood.”

God's Blessings

Love the Lord you God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it:  Love your neighbor as yourself.
