Mascot Day Q&A: A Sit-Down with Hartley the Blue Healer

In honor of Mascot Day, we sat down with BHSU’s beloved mascot, Hartley the Blue Healer, for a quick Q&A. While Hartley usually lets his school spirit do the talking, today he’s making an exception!
🐾 Q: First, can you clear up the question everyone asks — are you a Blue Heeler?
Hartley:
Actually, no! I’m a Blue Healer — not the Australian cattle dog. My job is to lift spirits, cheer on our Blue Healers, and spread positivity across campus. But hey, the confusion happens a lot — no hard feelings!
🐾 Q: What’s your favorite part of being the BHSU mascot?
Hartley:
Getting to support students, faculty, and staff every single day. Whether it’s welcoming new Blue Healers to campus, attending special events, or simply offering a wave or high five in the hallway, I love bringing energy and smiles wherever I go.
🐾 Q: How do you prepare for Mascot Day?
Hartley:
A hearty breakfast, a few stretches (mascot heads are heavy!), plenty of coffee, and my best school spirit. It’s a full day of celebrating what makes BHSU such a special place.
🐾 Q: What advice do you have for current and future Blue Healers?
Hartley:
Stay focused on your goals, always be kind to one another, and remember: a little pawsitivity can go a long way.
🐾 Q: Do you have any hidden talents?
Hartley:
I’ve perfected the art of silent communication, mastered the office power-walk, and let’s just say — my high-fives are legendary.
🐾 Q: Any final thoughts for Mascot Day?
Hartley:
I’m honored to represent the incredible Blue Healer community. Happy Mascot Day to all — and remember, no matter where you are on your journey, you’re part of the BHSU family!
Happy Mascot Day from Hartley the Blue Healer and all of us at BHSU! 🩵🐾
