Welcoming Tad Wingo, Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs

Baptist Health Sciences University is pleased to welcome Mr. Tad Wingo as our new Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs. Since beginning his role on July 7, Mr. Wingo has already been embracing the BHSU community, and he shares why this opportunity is such a meaningful fit for him.
A Perfect Fit
“BHSU is a perfect fit for me for three reasons,” Wingo said. “First, I believe the universities that will thrive in the future are those with a clear specialization. As a health sciences university, Baptist fits that vision perfectly. Second, I love West Tennessee and Memphis. My wife and I were both born and raised in West TN, so it will always be home for me. Third, my faith is central to who I am, and I wanted to be at an institution where faith is not only welcomed but encouraged. In many ways, BHSU is a unicorn for me in that it brings together everything I was looking for, and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of what’s happening here.”
Leading Enrollment and Student Affairs
As Vice President, Wingo is administratively accountable for overseeing the University’s enrollment management and student affairs divisions, including admissions, the Blue Healer Student Success Center (BHSSC), student records, financial aid, and student life. He reports directly to the President and plays a vital role in aligning enrollment and student success initiatives with the mission and vision of BHSU.
Putting Students First
Wingo’s vision centers on students: “For me, it’s about making sure students feel supported in every part of their journey. In the classroom, that means giving them the tools they need to succeed, and outside the classroom, it’s about helping them feel connected and know they truly belong. What I love about this work is getting to walk alongside students as they make big decisions about their future—watching them choose a path, grow into who they’re meant to be, and then seeing the impact they go on to make in their communities and families. At the end of the day, I want every student to know we genuinely care about them.”
Beyond the Office
Outside of work, Wingo enjoys time with his wife and their 21-year-old son. “We love to travel and eat good food,” he shared. “I am a huge Tennessee Volunteers fan, so I am glued to the TV anytime they are playing, no matter the sport. I also love the St. Louis Cardinals, and I am a huge sports fan in general. Golfing is something I enjoy, but I’m terrible at it and don’t have a lot of time to play.”
Advice for Students
Reflecting on his own college experience, Wingo offers this advice: “I’d tell my younger self to take academics more seriously and not just focus on having fun. I would also tell my college self to stop being an idiot and to go ahead and ask out my future wife (Tara) a little sooner. I would’ve gotten better grades and a few extra years with her, which would’ve been a win-win situation!”
Please join us in welcoming Mr. Tad Wingo to Baptist Health Sciences University. We look forward to the leadership, heart, and vision he brings to the role, and to the impact he will have on our students and campus community.
